Great Britain: World Champions

Thanks to the BBC's excellent coverage over the weekend, we were privileged to see our cyclists topping the World Championship Medal Table with 11 medals, NINE of them Gold: Mens Madison: Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish; Mens Keirin: Chris Hoy; Womens Sprint: Victoria Pendleton; Mens Sprint: Chris Hoy; Womens Team Pursuit: Wendy Houvenaghel, Jo Rowsell and Rebecca Romero; Womens Pursuit: Rebecca Romero; Mens Team Pursuit: Edward Clancy, Geraint Thomas, Paul Mannning and Bradley Wiggins; Womens Team Sprint: Victoria Pendleton and Shanaze Reade; Mens Idividual Pursuit: Bradley Wiggins. Silvers: Womens Keirin: Victoria Pendleton; Mens Team Sprint: Jamie Staff, Ross Edgar and Chris Hoy.

It's a good job I saw it though, and wasn't idly checking out teletext now - I couldn't find a single report! There probably was something there, but it had to make way for the very important relegation battles in the football league. Grrrrr!!

Congratulations to the whole team - that's them, Taekwondo and Sailing in contention for the Team Sports Personality of the Year Award, surely? We'll see.

NB: Hubby is now checking out holidays to Manchester Velodrome - he's hooked!

So agree Jaye - makes me so mad that football takes such priority in the media to the total exclusion of many sports and even major events like the Rugby World Cup, Tennis at Wimbledon and the Cricket Ashes contest struggle to attain the coverage they deserve - so stupid when no major football is actually happening -

gosh I could do with some smilies here to show just how crazy it is - except they would not be smilies!

It was great to get such super coverage as we received from BBC2 both during the week and on the Sunday round-up programme - well done to them - and didn't they time it well!

What a fantastic performance from a fabulous team - and great to see such support at the arena - a sport like rowing and sailing that we are worldbeaters in and we don't do enough to publicise them - congratulations to the whole team and wishing you all the best for Beijing - not wishing you luck because it is down to the team's professionalism and dedication that the performance throughout the week was so magnificent.

Wow - an absolute privilege to watch - even if not able to be there to see it live - don't blame your hubby to want to go in future.

We're not alone Biff, so many of us wanting more coverage. Maybe one day the media will realise there's more to British sport than mediocre football!
