The big BIG news of course is Amy Williams storming to Olympic Gold in the Skeleton! Yay, way to go Amy!

The BBC are making a movie charting the rivalry between Seb Coe and Steve Ovett, possibly being released before th 2012 Olympics. I knew someone would beat me to it, my screenplay is still up here *taps temple* waiting for a chance to be written.

In Boxing, Nathan Cleverly won the European Light Heavyweight title ... Peter Norfolk is still World Number One in Wheelchair tennis ... Greg Harlow won the World Indoor Bowls title, with Stewart Anderson and runner-up. In women's bowls, Debbie Stavrou beat Alison Merrien in the World Matchplay Championship final.

Sports Day

Shelley Rudman claimed a Bronze in the Skeleton European Championships, which secured her the runner up spot in the overall World Cup, keeping up her impressive form in the run up to the Olympics.

Speed Skaters Elise Christie and Jon Eley won silvers in the 1500m and 500m respectively, at the European Championships in Germany, with a bronze for the men’s relay team in the 5000m.

Sailors Ian Percy and Andrew Simpson have added the World Title to their Olympic one!

Paralympian Sean Rose takes downhill World Cup Gold in Sestriere, becoming the first Briton ever to do so.

Greg Harlow won the World Indoor Bowls title.

Disabled sailor, Geoff Holt, has become the first quadriplegic to sail solo across the Atlantic.

World Athletic Championship Round Up

On top of the Gold medals for Philips Idowu and Jessica Ennis, Team GB won two silvers on the final day - Lisa Dobriskey in the 1500m and the Mens 4 x 400m Relay - to go with two bronzes, the Mens 4 x 100m Relay and Jennie Meadows in the 800m, which put us 8th in the medal table, for our best World Championships since 1999. Our team coach says it's encouraging, read the report here!

It’s all a bit quiet on the sporting front - apart from these and, of course, the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. There are ten nominees listed, six are on my list. Personally, it’s got to be Hoy, Adlington and Hamilton for the top three. Andy Murray has had a great season apparently - but until he wins a grand slam event, I fail to see how he can live with the company on that list, frankly.

The Brits seem to be carrying on this weekend where we left off in Beijing - Andy Murray through to the US Open, first one in 70 odd years. That was at the time of starting to write this post about 4 hours ago - at time of posting he was one game away from defeat, although, he's just broken back! Lewis Hamilton did win the Belgian Grand Prix, but the Ferrari fans amongst the Powers That Be found some lame excuse to demote him. How can you say Raikonen is at a disadvantage when he went back in front …twice?

Socceraid drew a massive audience of GG’s, it appears I was the only English one with any understanding of the word ‘Patriotism’ … but then I was a Shearer fan before I became a Geth fan, so in matters of footie, sorry Geth - no contest! I’ll swap you a pair of GG pyjamas for Shearer's shirt, by the way - I’ll even make sure there’s no GG left inside them, can’t say fairer than that!

The Paralympics are under way and we’ve already won 7 Golds, 5 silvers and 3 bronzes, lying 3rd in the medal table to, surprise, surprise, China and the US, both on 8 golds each. The Roll of Honour is updated!

I think that not only have I volunteered to be 'Press and Publicity Officer' for Rochester BVFC (as they'll shortly be known - remind me to amend it) I may also have inadvertently become Events Manager too. Hubby's already mumbling on about "there's no housework getting done as it is ..."

Matt brought his relay team home to victory, storming through from last to first. And what a dip to the line. Bless him, he thought it was a bar instead of a ribbon and didn't want to hurt himself! It wasn't enough for his house 'Oak', to win overall but it made my day to see his face when they gave him the winners ticket. And it didn't rain! And, I took the day off work, being advised that I still have 8.8 hours left. Which, when you consider I only had 9.3 hours left before, is brill! (I do work longer than one and a half hours a day, honest).

Laying awake in the dark, there's a very insisitent owl calling loudly and clearly: Who who who? Who who who? Finally, he receives an answering call.
