The big BIG news of course is Amy Williams storming to Olympic Gold in the Skeleton! Yay, way to go Amy!
The BBC are making a movie charting the rivalry between Seb Coe and Steve Ovett, possibly being released before th 2012 Olympics. I knew someone would beat me to it, my screenplay is still up here *taps temple* waiting for a chance to be written.
In Boxing, Nathan Cleverly won the European Light Heavyweight title ... Peter Norfolk is still World Number One in Wheelchair tennis ... Greg Harlow won the World Indoor Bowls title, with Stewart Anderson and runner-up. In women's bowls, Debbie Stavrou beat Alison Merrien in the World Matchplay Championship final.

Sports Day
Shelley Rudman claimed a Bronze in the Skeleton European Championships, which secured her the runner up spot in the overall World Cup, keeping up her impressive form in the run up to the Olympics.
Speed Skaters Elise Christie and Jon Eley won silvers in the 1500m and 500m respectively, at the European Championships in Germany, with a bronze for the men’s relay team in the 5000m.
Sailors Ian Percy and Andrew Simpson have added the World Title to their Olympic one!
Paralympian Sean Rose takes downhill World Cup Gold in Sestriere, becoming the first Briton ever to do so.

Disabled sailor, Geoff Holt, has become the first quadriplegic to sail solo across the Atlantic.

Winter Sportsday
Shelley Rudman continues her strong season in the run up to Vancouver, with victory in the World Cup skeleton race at St.Moritz. This follows a bronze in Germany and places her only 34 points behind current series leader, Canada's Mellisa Hollingsworth.
Kristan Bromley took a silver in the men's event, while British sliders gained world rankings points and a brace of medals in the Intercontinental Cup events in Lake Placid. Ant Sawyer took silver in the mens' event, with Donna Creighton the bronze in the women's race. In the subsequent meet at Calgary, Adam Pengilly also secured a silver.

Cricket - England take a one-nil lead in the series against South Africa; Golf - Lee Westwood wins the Dubai World Championship, thus ending the season as Numero Uno in Europe!
Cycling - Wendy Houvenhagel takes Individual Gold in Melbourne World Cup and a team silver; Silver for Team Pursuitists. Matt Crampton took the bronze in the Men's Sprint.
Boxing - Rendall Munroe retains his European super bantamweight title.
Wheelchair Tennis - Peter Norfolk becomes World Number One, after winning the Quad Singles at the Wheelchair Masters.
Skeleton Bob - Shelley Rudman wins Silver in the World Cup. Wish they'd make their minds up as to whether it's Bob Skeleton or Skeleton Bob. Bob Skeleton doesn't sound as good, but Skeleton Bob sounds like a Krusty the Clown sidekick.
Bowls- Paul Foster wins six World Tour titles, beating the record of fellow Scot, Alex Marshall.
Taekwondo - 18 year old Aaron Cook won the 80kg Gold at the World Taekwondo Tour Event, beating the reigning World Champion and triple Olympic medallist Steven Lopez! *Gets even more excited about 2012* 18 years old and already taking scalps like that!
Chrissie Wellington is the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year.

Winter Sports Night
Jenny Jones - first British woman to win a medal in the prestigious X-Games and it’s GOLD!
Shelley Rudman, Bob Skeleton European Champion and topping the World Cup Rankings - with a broken finger and in her first season back after giving birth. And footballers wear gloves *sniggers*
Sinead and John Kerr win Ice Dance European Championship Bronze - the first medal since Torvill and Dean in 1994.
And to illustrate how fantastic these results are …
I’ve only been ski-ing twice, the first time in Sauze Doux (Italy) where there was very little snow. I only got the bug on the last day, when we found a nice little slope I could manage. Up till then, I’d only attempted the big nursery slope; my experienced friend and guide led me sidestepping up the slope, turned me round - and let me go …away, off down the hill, arms outstretched. No snowplough, nothing. Just straight ahead down the slope, heading for a bunch of Italian teenagers having a lesson. They’re all lined up, either side of an instructor at the head of them. They see me coming and start with the handclaps and “Hup-hup-hup-hup” (watch Ski Sunday) and I’m yelling “GET OUT OF THE WAY, GET OUT OF THE WAY …” The ski instructor turns at the last minute, can of coke in hand - all I remember is the tin flying up in the air and an arc of cola glinting in the sunlight. We end up over the fence, on top of each other in someone’s back garden. Anyway, so he’s pulling me to my feet …and then pulling me to my feet again. And again. And starts telling me ‘Ercu et ercu’ I think; I’ve no idea what it means, but he’s illustrating by turning me from side to side, so I think it might be “Turn, you pathetic English idiot, turn!” But it isn’t recognised on the on-line translator I tried.
The second time was in Bulgaria and this time we went with Ski-School - and were traversing across moguls on black runs within three days. Awesome. Then I had my ski’s nicked and they replaced the fine, cool, aluminium(?) ones I’d had with two planks of wood. They say I just fell over and have no idea how the binding snapped. I say I did a three and a half turn somersault with a two full twists and that’s how the binding snapped. I didn’t go again. It was an ambition; I’m cured now.

Darts: Phil Taylor and Ted Hankey win the World Championship(s).
Winter Sports: Shelley Rudman takes Silver in the World Cup; Zoe Gillings takes a Bronze.
David Vine: I hear the start of Ski Sunday and he’s the person I immediately think of. A sad loss; my sympathies to David’s family and friends.
